By resolution of the Argentine Senate Nº 195-S-07 dated 3/12/2007, the film From Bessarabia to Entre Ríos, directed by a filmmaker from Entre Ríos called Pedro Banchik, was designated as “a film of cultural and legislative interest…"Said resolution further states in its arguments that: "The identity of a province may be understood on the basis of its characteristics and essential circumstances that distinguish it from others. Thus, the identity of the province of Entre Ríos consists of a group of characteristics and circumstances by which it is distinguished and may not be confused with other provinces. Therefore, the identity of Entre Ríos should be determined based on its basic components, i.e.: its territory, language, religions, history, collective conscience, politics, tolerant coexistence, as well as the immigrants’ contribution to its foundation. The cultural mixture offered by the province of Entre Ríos is made up of the customs, beliefs and traditions of the immigrants who created a new lineage together with the previous inhabitants. Said lineage consists of locals from Entre Ríos and Argentina who now express themselves through different cultural and popular art forms and are motivated by the generosity of this land. Within this context, the film From Bessarabia to Entre Ríos, directed by the native of Entre Ríos Pedro Banchik, was recognized and awarded prizes in local and foreign festivals. It also reflects, through an informative and testimonial description, the life of so many families who arrived in Argentina, adopted new customs, participated in a new social and political life and projected themselves in their greatest possession: their children. I also believe that since the film is based on values such as solidarity, peace, human rights and tolerant coexistence, it may represent a significant contribution to education and the culture of both the province and the Nation. Thus, Mr. President, I request that my peers approve this bill.".
